Cheerful Giving of Tithes and Offerings
End of Year Statements
Thank you for supporting the work of the Lord, through the community outreach offered by St. Augustine Catholic Church. Year-end statements are mailed by January 31 of each subsequent year. Please ensure that you have a designated personal envelope for a complete record of your giving.
New Concept in Giving: Give Online, Soon!
Did you know you already can give by ACH or Check Draft?
Yes, you can.
What Does It Cost to Belong to St. Augustine?
Nothing. There is no charge from the Church. St. Augustine will not invoice you--even if you come everyday.
God calls His people to be stewards over all that he gives. Please meditate carefully on what your personal giving plan for God. When you write a check to St. Augustine, you are giving to God. The financial support you give assists your Church in carrying out the works of spiritual and corporal mercy for God's people. Your support is reflected in what St. Augustine gives back to the people of the Parish and the community it serves.
Stewardship
As you sit down to pay your bills, think about giving the "first fruits" of your labor to God's work, and then, pay yourself. Often, in the African-American culture, we may not imagine that we can live without 20% of our income. However, God gives the increase to everything that we have, and He expects that we will give back to him, and "put back" for ourselves.
We are very blessed that the parishioners of St. Augustine are very giving. Many of our faithful give more than the tithe in finances and in talent.
As you consider what you will give in 2008, please consider adding an extra $30 per month to support the Paulist Campaign.
What the Word Says About Stewardship
Often the Catholic Church does not repeatedly teach on tithing. Many consider "tithing" or giving a tenth of your income to be an old law from the Old Testament. However, it is important to understand the New Testament teaching on Stewardship is linked to obedience and trust.
Luke 16:1 And he said also to his disciples: There was a certain rich man who had a steward: and the same was accused unto him, that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said to him: How is it that I hear this of thee? Give an account of thy stewardship: for now thou canst be steward no longer.
Please take time to reflect upon electronic giving articles (right). Most say this increases the overall financial gifts, annually. However you give, remember that we honor God through obedience. Obedience in all that we partake is the best gift we can offer to God. Back to Bulletin
We are considering implementing an online giving program. Please think about how this might impact your giving, by reading the three articles linked below:
“One of the natural signs of a true Paulist is that he would prefer to suffer from the excesses of liberty rather than from the arbitrary actions of tyranny.”
