Bereavement Ministry
Bereavement Ministry
When a St. Augustine member dies, or someone chooses to bury their loved one from our parish, the Bereavement Committee ministers to the family with expressions of sympathy.
When a loved one dies, there is no need to embark upon the journey of funeral arrangements, the Mass of Christian Burial, and the burial itself, alone.Members of the parish who are trained in dealing with these issues, and who have a spring of kindness dwelling within them, will assist you. Please contact Marilyn Coleman via the church office.
On the day of the funeral a meal is served by the Committee to the family. This expression assures the family of the parish's concern about their loss. The Committee also sponsors group meetings, so that those who are affected by the loss of a loved one can meet with others who are experiencing the same pain.
Greta Bradfield is the chairperson of the Bereavement Committee. This committee meets on an as needed basis.
“God does not ask you to surrender your nature or its faculties, for these are fresh from His hands, but to go with the same limbs that clad you at your birth into blessedness”. Father Isaac Hecker, founder of the Paulist Fathers
